1. Delhi: Woman’s Body Found Stuffed in Suitcase, Tattoo on Hand Only Clue

Just ahead of a police post in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar, a woman’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase on Tuesday night. The woman is yet to be identified, and police have registered an FIR under IPC Section 302 (murder) against unknown persons.

“A PCR call was received at 8 pm about a suspicious, abandoned suitcase near a drain on Dharamshila Road. The body of a woman, aged 25-30 years, was found inside. She had injury marks on her face and a tattoo on her right hand that read ‘Mohit.’ Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident took place the same day,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Pankaj Kumar Singh.

2. Woman, Paramour Arrested for Abetting Suicide of Her Husband

A woman and her paramour were arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of her husband in Shamli district here, police said Wednesday.

The accused were absconding since the commission of the crime 10 months ago and carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on their arrest, SHO Dharmender Singh Parmar said.

The deceased, Ravinder, committed suicide by hanging himself at his home after learning about his wife's illicit affair, the SHO said.

3. Maharahstra: Woman Arrested for Sexual Abuse of Friend’s 11-Year-Old Son

A 45-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested earlier this week for allegedly sexually abusing her friend’s 11-year old son. The friend, who is separated from her husband, approached the court on Tuesday claiming that her 45-year-old friend has been falsely implicated by her estranged husband. Special Judge MH More directed the investigating officer to record the boy’s statement to determine whether the complaint has resulted out of domestic discord between his parents. The woman, who was arrested on January 6, will be in police custody till Thursday.

4. Delhi: Trying to Break up Fight, Woman Falls to Death

A 62-year-old woman, who went to intervene in a fight, was allegedly pushed off the third floor of a building in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri, and died due to the impact of the fall, police said. Police have arrested three members of her family in connection with the crime and charged them under IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 34 (common intention) at Kalyanpuri police station.

5. Cop Accused of Raping Colleague Seeks Pre-Arrest Bail in HC

A sub-inspector (SI) of the Navi Mumbai police's Crime Branch has moved the Bombay High Court seeking anticipatory bail in an alleged rape and criminal intimidation case filed against him by a woman constable.

SI Amit Shelar's petition came up for hearing Wednesday before a division bench of Justices Indrajit Mahanty and S S Jadhav, which directed it to be placed for hearing before an appropriate bench.

Shelar approached the high court after a sessions court rejected his application seeking pre-arrest bail on December 31 last year.

6. Cab Stopped On Way to IGI, NRI Couple Robbed at Gunpoint

An NRI couple, heading to the airport in a hired cab, was robbed at gunpoint by a group of youths who waylaid them on the Ring Road near Pitampura early on Friday. The couple along with the man's brother, were robbed off their jewellery, mobile phones and cash.

7. Man Arrested for Raping Minor Step-Daughter in Noida

A 35-year-old man was arrested here Wednesday for allegedly raping his minor step-daughter, police said.

The eight-year-old girl was raped by the man Tuesday night at their home in Harola village here following which her mother approached police with a complaint against her second husband, they said.

"The woman has claimed in her complaint that her husband is an alcoholic and would often beat the child up," the official said.

8. Man Held For Running Over Six-Year-Old Boy on New Year’s Day

A MAN was arrested for allegedly running over a six-year-old boy when he was crossing the street near Grant Road railway station on January 1. The driver, identified as Prashant Kamble, was arrested on Monday, produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. The complainant in the case is the minor’s father, a daily wager. The incident happened when he was relocating from Grant Road station as his shanty was demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
