1. Mumbai: 65-Yr-Old Gets 20-Year Jail for Raping Minor

A 65-year-old man has been sentenced to 20-year jail term for raping a 10-year-old girl, police said.

While the victim had not supported the prosecution’s case and denied that the sexual abuse took place, the court relied on statements of others, including an eyewitness who had seen the accused rape the child.

According to the prosecution, on 18 April 2018, one of the neighbours saw the accused rape the child and alerted another neighbour, who claimed to have seen the man with the victim a few months ago, but had refrained from speaking about it fearing a confrontation.

2. 2 Delhi Doctors Found Dead In Car; Affair Gone Wrong, Suspect Police

In a shocking incident, Delhi Police have found bullet-ridden bodies of two doctors from a car parked at a desolated stretch of a road in Sector 13 of Rohini on Wednesday morning.

According to police the deceased were identified as Omprakash Kukreja (65) and Sudipta Mukherjee (55).

Police said that the man allegedly shot the woman first before turning the gun on himself.

Kukreja and Mukherjee used to work in the same hospital, where the latter was also a managing director. Kukreja was married and was having an extramarital affair with the woman who wanted the doctor to marry her, and that demand might have led to the incident, police said.

3. Delhi: Five Held for Abducting, Killing GK Businessman

Five men, including a father-son duo, have been arrested for allegedly abducting a 64-year-old businessman from outside his home in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash, strangulating him and dumping his body in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhansi.

According to police, Arun Kumar Sharma had been abducted on 15 November, and an FIR was registered based on a complaint by Sharma’s sister Shashi Kiran a day later.

The case was later transferred to the anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) of the Crime Branch, which made the arrests. The body is yet to be recovered.

4. Mumbai: Former Cricketer, 4 Others Held on Kidnapping Charge

The Kurla police has arrested five persons, including a former first class cricketer, for allegedly kidnapping a 43-year-old loan agent from a restaurant near Kurla station.

The police said the five accused have been identified as former cricketer Robin Morris, Gravin D’souza, Ahmed Ali Ansari, Alex Miranda and Rupesh Bhimani. The five were picked up by police from Versova on 30 November after they allegedly kidnapped a loan agent and kept him confined at Morris’ home in Versova.

Morris, aged 53, has played in T20 matches along with List A matches for India. He was previously caught in a sting operation for allegedly doctoring pitch conditions for betting purposes in three cricket matches, including India vs Sri Lanka, India vs England and India vs Australia.

5. Man Strangles Wife as Her Kin Refuse to Lend Him ₹1.50 Lakh

A 28-year-old man from Badlapur was arrested late on Tuesday night for allegedly strangling his 24-year-old wife with a nylon rope and trying to pass it off as suicide. According to Badlapur police, the accused, Tushar Sambre, allegedly killed his wife, Kanchan, after her parents refused to give him ₹1.50 lakh to start a business.

Kanchan’s father, Kashinath Nirgude, 48, told the police that Sambre had visited their house with her and their daughter on Tuesday night. Sambre, who had left his job a year ago and then worked as a driver, demanded ₹1.50 lakh from Nirgude to start his own business, said the police.

6. ‘Ex-PMC Bank MD Loaned ₹13cr to HDIL Promoters Without Records’

Former managing director of Punjab Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank, Joy Thomas, allegedly loaned around ₹13 crore to the promoters of Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL), Rakesh Kumar and Sarang Wadhawan, without maintaining any official records. Thomas is one of the key accused in the fraud case at PMC Bank, which is being investigated by Mumbai Police’s economic offences wing (EOW).

“Whenever the Wadhawans would require huge cash, they would approach the bank and give cheques. Thomas would allow the Wadhawans to take cash without even processing the cheques. This is how around ₹13 crore in cash was availed to the Wadhawans on different instances. Thomas never processed the 22 cheques Wadhawans had given the bank [as repayment]. Later, the Wadhawans returned ₹3 crore, but rest [₹10 crore] remained unpaid. This has surfaced in the recent investigations,” said an EOW officer on condition of anonymity.

7. Murdered Bengal Woman’s Body Found in a Bush, Mother Suspects She Was Gang-Raped First

A 34-year old Bengal woman’s body was found behind a bush near national highway 34 in Murshidabad district on Wednesday, 4 December. Her mother alleged she was gang-raped before killed. Victim’s body has been sent for an autopsy.

The woman lived in Sagardhighi area with her two minor sons and had a daughter who was married. Neighbours told police that she had left home on 3 December.

The victim’s mother said she had “heard” that her daughter was gang-raped before she was killed. She said the victim worked at a hotel to support her family after she was left by her husband a few years ago for another woman.

“I have heard that my daughter was gang-raped. I want stern punishment for the culprits,” the mother said.

8. 10-Year-Old Allegedly Raped By Teen Cousin In Himachal Pradesh

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her cousin in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place when the girl was going to school, Kullu Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code for raping woman under the age of 12 and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at a women police station on the victim's statement, he said.

9. Body Of Unidentified Woman Found With Gunshot Wounds In UP

The body of an unidentified woman, bearing gunshot wounds to the head, has been found inside an abandoned police booth in the Bargarh area of Chitrakoot district, officials said.

The body of the woman aged about 26 was found on Tuesday, 3 December, senior police official Chitrakoot Ankit Mittal said.

The victim's face was also smashed with a blunt object, he said, adding it is suspected that she was raped.
