1. Fate of 15 Seats to Be Sealed Today
The results of 5 December bypolls to 15 Assembly seats in Karnataka will be announced on Monday, 9 December. The outcome will determine the fate of the Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa-led BJP government in the state. The bypolls, which were conducted after 17 rebel MLAs from the Congress and the JD(S) defected to the BJP, saw a turnout of 66.25 percent.
The 15 seats that went to polls were Yellapur, Ranebennur, Vijayanagara, Yesvantpur, Mahalakshmi Layout, Chikkaballapura, KR Puram, Shivajinagar, KR Pete, Hunsur, Athani, Kagwad, Gokak, Hirekerur, and Hoskkote.

2. Onion Prices Reach Rs 200 Per Kg in Bengaluru
Price of onion shot up to a whopping Rs 200 per kg in Bengaluru due to severe short supply in the market, an official said here on Saturday.
"Onion price touched Rs 200 per kg in some retail shops of Bengaluru, after its wholesale rate ranged between Rs 5,500 and Rs 14,000 per quintal," state agricultural marketing officer Siddagangaiah told IANS.
As a result, the most common and staple vegetable was conspicuously missing from the menu in homes and restaurants across this tech hub. According to Siddagangaiah, skyrocketing onion prices and the bulb's shortage is expected to last until mid-January.

3. 'BSY Lacks Knowledge on Managing State Finances'
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah has said that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had no knowledge of managing the finances of the state.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Siddaramaiah said that the state government had utterly failed in maintaining the finances and the chief minister had been busy saving his chair. “Karnataka has not received its GST share of Rs 5,600 crore.
Yediyurappa should insist Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release state’s legitimate share so that our employees are paid salaries and flood-affected people get compensation,” Siddaramaiah said.

4. Man Ends Life After Throwing Acid on Wife, Sister-in-law
A 28-year-old man committed suicide a day after throwing acid on his wife and her sister at their parents’ house, police said.
Sharath went to his in-laws’ place on December 6 and threw acid on his wife Swetha M and sister-in-law Anusha. He was angry that his wife had left him to live with her parents. The women suffered injuries to their face, eyes and neck in the acid attack. The jurisdictional KP Agrahara police registered an FIR following a complaint from Swetha and were about to summon Sharath for questioning the next day when news came that he hanged himself at a relative’s house.
Sharath and Swetha, working at private firms, got married two years ago but developed differences soon after.

5. Man Poses as Amazon Staffer, Cheats Woman of Rs 40k
A 32-year-old woman lost Rs 40,000 after a person pretending to be an Amazon representative called her on the pretext of getting her a refund and cheated the HSR Layout resident.
Bandepalya police said the thief may have used information he collected from the woman to gain access to her bank account. Shreelakshmi had recently ordered a blanket on Amazon, which was delivered to her on time. However, she didn’t like it and returned it. While a representative came to her house and collected the blanket, the refund was pending.
Around 11.45pm on December 4, she received a call on her mobile from a man saying Amazon was experiencing some technical problem. He asked her to fill a form using a link sent to her and to send the same to another number he provided.
