New Punjab Congress chief meets party leaders in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, July 19 (ANI): Punjab cabinet minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa hosted high tea for newly appointed Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu at his residence on July 19. Former state president of the party Sunil Jakhar and other dignitaries were present at the informal meeting.Former PPCC Chief Sunil Jakhar said, “It wasn't a meeting. High-tea was arranged by Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa to welcome new Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. Party is united, we have huge responsibility, people had given us 2/3rd majority in 2017. It's our duty to further strengthen the trust.”The cricketer-turned-politician was declared the Punjab Congress chief on July 18 after weeks of infighting and strong opposition by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Navjot Singh Sidhu appointment comes ahead of Punjab Assembly elections due next year.
