Punjab CM Amarinder Singh announces extension of night curfew amid surge in COVID cases

Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh announced an impose in the night curfew in Punjab’s Amritsar from Thursday. The night curfew will be from 9 pm to 5 am. Earlier, the Punjab government, in order to curb the coronavirus spread, had imposed night curfew and stringent restrictions in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, and Ropar.
The night curfew will now be in place from 9 pm to 5 am instead of 11 pm to 5 am in the above-mentioned districts.
As per the latest bulletin of the health department, of the total fresh positive infections, Jalandhar accounted for 277 cases, Ludhiana 233, Mohali 222, Patiala 203, and Hoshiarpur 191.
