Protestors lift four-month long economic blockade in Manipur

The four-month long economic blockade in Manipur ended following tripartite talks between the federal government, the state government and the protesting group, United Naga Council (UNC). The group which has been campaigning for the rights of the minority Naga tribes in Manipur, blocked the state's two main national highways in protest. Giving details, UNC chief, Gaidon Kamei, said they agreed to lift the blockade as the government assured them to address all their issues. The blockade caused immense hardships to residents as prices of essential commodities skyrocketed.
