By promoting religious, cultural tourism, Jammu and Kashmir hopes to boost employment opportunities

Jammu and Kashmir (J and K) which is a tourist's paradise is on its way to have several areas of religious and tourist importance being developed by the state government. Here are some of the traditional fairs, ancient temples and places of tourist interest that are being considered for development: On the occasion of Baisakhi , a seven day long Baisakhi Mela was arranged on the premises of the ancient Lord Shiva Maha Bilkeshwar Temple, , this year the government of Jammu and Kashmir took an initiative to promote the religious and cultural tourism in the district. Deputy Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Nirmal Singh also visited and inspected stalls installed by various departments to display their goods. On the colourful occasion, a cultural programme was also held during the mela where famous artists enthralled the audience with their sweet voices. Residents said that promoting tourism activities will help in increasing the employment opportunities in the district.
