Amid pan-India protest, President Ram Nath Kovind has given his assent to three contentious farm bills that were passed by the parliament. President approval comes even after leaders of 18 opposition parties have approached president last week and urged him not to give his assent to the bills.
Refusing to relent the Congress party has now decided to approach the Supreme Court challenging the contentious farm bills that were passed in the parliament last week. Congress will be filing the petition in the Supreme Court as well against the bills today.
The fallout has been that even BJP has lost his oldest ally Shiromani Akali Dal and they have quit because of the agricultural bills.
