Mumbai, July 27 (ANI-Business Wire India): Tekla India Pvt Ltd., a prominent technology firm providing Building Information Modelling (BIM) software for engineering and construction industry, announced a strategic alignment with the Precast India Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (PIIPL), a leading precast company in India.
This coming together of two industry leaders (Tekla and PIIPL) is of immense strategic importance for the Indian Construction Industry, as it seeks to move towards more advanced building methods such as precast construction and the implementation of latest software and technologies is a significant step in this direction.
PIIPL will use Tekla Structures to create accurate, constructable model with high level of detail, which will facilitate efficient manufacturing of the precast elements of varied shapes and sizes at their factory and secondly, erecting them at the site. Tekla's most accurate and information rich civil structural 3D BIM models would enable PIIPL to undergo a smooth and seamless construction process with no wastage and errors. Tekla's technology would also help to enhance collaboration and project management while managing design to construction oriented engineering process.
In order to avoid the delays in delivery, shortage of labour and boost product quality, developers and builders are adopting precast technology at a feverish pace, as it allows for quality delivery at a faster pace and results in significant cost advantage for them. Precast construction enables developers to save up to 60 percent time compared to projects using cast in situ construction methods. In other words, if traditional construction methods take one year to complete a project, the precast construction takes just about 4 to 5 months to complete a project of a similar scale.
Precast technology is a proven construction technology with many leading developers in the Middle East, Europe and US having executed multiple projects leveraging the same. Besides speeding up the construction process, it also enhances the quality of final construction output and is a fast emerging alternative to the traditional construction practices.
Commenting on this strategic alliance, Nirmalya Chatterjee, COO and Business Director, Tekla India Pvt Ltd. said: "It is a privilege to be associated with PIIPL as their technology partner for the construction of precast structures in India. Tekla's BIM solution will help PIIPL deliver all types of precast concrete elements at the right time to the right place by integrating design and detailing with manufacturing, project management and efficient information sharing. Tekla's BIM solution will manage and optimize the whole value creating process, minimize errors and waste and improve collaboration."
Ajit Bhate, Managing Director of Precast India Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (PIIPL), said, "We tested a few software solutions in the past to facilitate our move to a 3D platform, but unfortunately we ended up wasting time and resources as none of the earlier solutions could satisfy our requirement of producing varied types of precast elements. Upon engaging with Tekla, and after a rigorous evaluation of their solutions, we concluded that Tekla BIM technology is best for our requirement. We are delighted with this partnership as it supports our mission to build high quality and cost effective precast structures. Tekla Structures 3D BIM helps us provide efficient construction solution through an integrated structural design 3D model, with every project data incorporated in the same. We are eagerly looking forward to give a massive face lift to our engineering processes".
"Tekla Structures makes it so easy to work on third party applications and in parallel, its information-rich 3D BIM technology helps us to augment project quality and delivery by reducing errors and improving reliability. It further enables us to seamlessly generate construction deliverable documentation from the same 3D project model. Tekla's technologies such as the open BIM tools are focused on optimizing collaboration and smooth information flow between the software solutions so that managing construction of buildings becomes easier and smarter," he added.
Tekla drives the evolution of digital information models to provide greater competitive advantage to the construction, infrastructure and energy industries. Established in 1966, Tekla has customers in over 100 countries, offices in over 20 countries, and a global partner network. Tekla Building and Construction is part of Trimble Buildings, a group focused on technology solutions that improve collaboration, efficiency and accuracy across the Design-Build-Operate (DBO) lifecycle of construction.
With an ambition to multiply its customers' potential to think and achieve big, Tekla provides a BIM (Building Information Modeling) software environment that can be shared by contractors, structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, as well as concrete detailers and manufacturers. The highly detailed as-built 3D models created, combined and distributed with Tekla software enable the highest level of constructability and production control. Centralizing building information into the model allows for more collaborative and integrated project management and delivery. This translates into increased productivity and elimination of waste, thus making construction and buildings more sustainable.
Precast India Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd. is a pioneering joint initiative between one of Pune's most reputed civil contractors, Bhate Raje Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. and leading real estate developers Panchshil Developers. The company was founded in 2010 with a mammoth production facility in Wade Bolhai, on the outskirts of Pune.
PIIPL undertakes high volume contracts for IT buildings, commercial complexes and Industrial buildings. A full fledged precast solution for residential buildings will also be available very soon. The company offers a one-stop 'design and build' solution. Since the start of full scale production in April 2012, they have successfully completed several projects in and around Pune with a cumulative built up area of up to four million sq.ft.
