Prabhas Birthday Special: Rebel Star’s 10 Onscreen Transformations That Are All Sorts Of Awesome
Prabhas celebrates his birthday today (October 23, 1979). Born Venkata Satyanarayana Prabhas Raju Uppalapati to producer U. Suryanarayana Raju and Siva Kumari, he is the youngest amongst three siblings, with an elder brother Pramod Uppalapati and sister Pragathi.
Prabhas made his debut in Telugu cinema with Eshwar (2002). But it was only in 2010 when the film Darling cemented his position as a star. Mirchi in 2013 was another turning point in her career, winning him the Nandi Award for Best Actor (state award).
While already a superstar in Telugu cinema, with tags like ‘Darling’, ‘Rebel Star’, ‘Handsome hunk’ bestowed upon him from fans, the magnanimous success of S. S. Rajamouli’s period drama Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) made him a name to reckon with amongst cine buffs across the country. He has created history and new box office records that are hard to break or surpass.

Prabhas in Chatrapathi
2005 – Chatrapathi / Siva in Chatrapathi, story of a refugee living off the Sri Lankan coast in search of his mother. Written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli with Arti Agarwal, Shriya Saran, Bhanupriya, and Pradeep Rawat appear in important roles.
Prabhas in Munna
2007 – As Munna in Munna, story of a college student with who wants to bring an end to the atrocities of mafia don Kakha (Prakash Raj) who keeps the entire city under his grip. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally with Ileana D’Cruz as female lead and Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Rahul Dev in other important roles.
Prabhas in Billa
2009 – As Billa in Billa, story of an underworld don on Interpol’s criminal list, hiding and operating out of Malaysia. Directed by Meher Ramesh with Anushka Shetty and Namitha playing the heroines.
Prabhas in Ek Niranjan
2009 – As Chotu in Ek Niranjan, story of a boy who is abducted as a kid and forced to beg on the streets by a syndicate. He helps cops to nab the criminal and gets rewarded. Then on, he starts getting criminals caught in exchange for money. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film stars Kangana Ranaut as female lead.
Prabhas in Darling
2010 – As Prabhas in Darling, a story of two kids separated in childhood and reuniting as adults. Directed by A. Karunakaran, the film stars Kajal Aggarwal and Prabhu Ganesan in key roles.
Prabhas in Mr Perfect
2011 – As Vicky in Mr. Perfect, a romantic comedy about a gaming software expert lives by the mantra about never compromising in life. This principle leads to a lot of friction between his relationship with his parents and in his love life. Directed by Dasaradh Kondapalli, the film stars Kajal Agarwal and Taapsee Pannu in female lead roles.

2012 – As Rishi in Rebel, a story of a happy go lucky guy who is sent away from home by his father so that he stays away from seeing violence and ends up learning fine arts – like music or dance. When Rishi comes to visit his parents, he has to put up a fake demeanor so that his father doesn’t get disappointed. However, his father’s enemies kill him and the family and Rishi swears to take revenge. Written and directed by Raghava Lawrence, the film stars Tamannaah, Deeksha Seth and Krishnam Raju in pivotal roles.

2013 – As Jai in Mirchi, an action drama where Jai falls in love his father’s rival’s daughter. He hides his identity to lead every one on the path of non-violence so that he can marry the woman he loves. 2015 – As Sivudu (Mahendra Baahubali) in Baahubali The Beginning. The film follows the story of Sivudu, a strong, adventurous young man who tries to climb the waterfall. Once he succeeds, he meets Avantika and joins her mission of freeing Devesena from Mahishmati kingdom. During this, he comes across the king’s royal slave warrior Kattappa who reveals Sivudu’s real identity as Mahendra Baahubali, the son of late king Amarendra Baahubali. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film stars Anushka Shetty, Tammannah Bhatia, Rana Daggubati , Nassar, Ramya Krishna in pivotal roles.

2017 – As Amarendra Baahubali in Baahubali in Baahubali The Conclusion, the film tells the story of Amarendra’s past and how he was killed by Bhallala Deva. Now, Amarendra’s son Sivudu is back. He has learnt about his royal background an real identity of Mahendra. With mother Devasena and Katappa by his side, he is off to take revenge and reclaim Mahishmati.
