Hindutva activist Pragya Singh Thakur, popularly known as Sadhvi Pragya, is to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on a BJP ticket. A controversial figure, Pragya was arrested in 2009 in connection with the 2008 Malegaon blast case in which six people were killed and over 100 injured. After nine years in jail, a special National Investigating Agency court dropped the serious Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act charges against her in 2017. But Sadhvi and the other accused, who are all out on bail, still face trial under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
Do you think it’s right for a national political party to field her as a candidate?
