A day after a woman filed a sexual harassment complaint against The Viral Fever (TVF) founder and CEO Arunabh Kumar, a second FIR was lodged on Thursday against him.
Based on a complaint filed by a former employee of the The Viral Fever (TVF), a case of sexual harassment was registered against Kumar at the suburban Versova police station this evening, a senior police official said.
On Wednesday, the MIDC Police in Andheri had filed a case of sexual harassment against Kumar based on another complaint following which a Mumbai police team began looking for him on Thursday.
Police sources confirmed to The Quint that an investigation against Arunabh has begun.
On Wednesday, an FIR was lodged against Arunabh under sections 354 A (causing sexual harassment) and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman by indecent words, gesture or acts) of the Indian Penal Code based on the woman’s complaint.
Though the police has no information of Arunabh seeking anticipatory bail, a senior police officer told Hindustan Times that the plea will be opposed. The news report further added that a police team had visited the TVF office on Thursday, but did not find Arunabh there. An officer said that they are “looking for him”.
Earlier this month, after an article was published on Medium.com allegedly by a former TVF employee accusing Arunabh of sexual harassment, multiple women had come forward with similar allegations against the TVF founder.
On Tuesday, Mumbai police had said no FIR would be filed against Kumar unless at least one victim came forward and approached it.
