Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the India-Japan Samvad Conference. The first Samvad Conference was held in 2015 in New Delhi's Bodh Gaya.
In his speech, the Prime Minister of India said, 'About 3 weeks ago, I was at Sarnath, is where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. This 'Jyoti Punj' emerged from Sarnath spread across the world embracing the value of compassion, nobility and above all Manav Kalyan which is the good of the entire humanity and gently peacefully Buddha changed the course of World History.'
He also mentioned that it was in Sarnath that Lord Gautam Buddha spoke every day about the idea of Dharma. Dharma for him was more than prayer and rituals. At the centre of Dharma are humans and their relationships with fellow humans. Thus it is most important to be a positive force in the lives of others.
