PM Narendra Modi on triple talaq: Muslim community should come forward to protect its women

PM Modi said that reformers from Muslim community would come forward to protect women from ill-effects of triple talaq.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that triple talaq issue should not be viewed from a political prism.

PM Modi was addressing a gathering at the Vigyan Bhavan on the occasion of Basava Jayanti.

While speaking on the occasion, PM Modi added that reformers from Muslim community would come forward to protect women from ill-effects of triple talaq.

Apart from commenting on the most debated issue, the prime minister also lauded the vibrant history of India.

"India gave the message of good governance, non-violence and satyagraha," said Modi.

He emphasised that India's history should not be undermined by looking at the loss, slavery and poverty. India's history is about its good governance, non-violence and satyagraha.

He said that Lord Basava, in 12th century, toiled hard to ward off social injustice.
