Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017: BJP, Congress Prepares For Second Phase, PM Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi to Woo Crowd in Anand, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha Today

The second phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 will be held on December 14.

New Delhi, Dec 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a dig at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for visiting temples during his visits to the poll-bound Gujarat. Modi, while inaugurating Dr Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi, said that those who do politics in the name of Babasaheb are seeing ‘Baba Bholey’ more these days.

Jo rajnaetik dal Babasaheb ka naam leke vote maangte hain, unhe to shayad ye pata bhi nahin hoga. Khair unhe aaj kal Baba Saheb nahin, Baba bholey zara zyada yaad aa rahe hain (The parties which ask for votes in the name of Babasaheb, they don’t know…. Well these days not Baba Saheb, they are seeing Baba Bholey more),” Modi said.

Rahul Gandhi has been visiting temples in Gujarat while campaigning for Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017. Gandhi has been attacked by the Opposition for playing politics in the name of religion. BJP President Amit Shah had even questioned Gandhi on why he didn’t visit temples while staying in Delhi. Gandhi had also said that his family was a Shiva devotee.

Meanwhile, Modi also attacked the Congress saying that the decision to set up the Ambedkar International Centre was taken in 1992, but nothing was done after it. “Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s contribution to nation building is very important, there had been attempts to undermine his role, but such attempts were unsuccessful. Attempts to erase Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s role failed, he has been more influential in the minds of people, much more than the family for which all this was done,” the Prime Minister said.
