PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Swami Vivekananda's statue at JNU campus today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be unveiling the statue of Swami Vivekanand at the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus today evening. The inauguration will be done through a video conference call. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union also known as JNUSU has called for an anti-Modi protest over the funds used for the construction of the statue and also because the entire statue is covered in a saffron-colored cloth and stands in between the entire administration block of the campus.

JNU vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar in an official statement said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil (through video-conference) the life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda installed in the university campus on November 12, at 6:30 pm. The unveiling of the statue will be preceded by a programme on Swami Vivekananda.”
