PM Modi highlights new mapping policy at NASSCOM event, says the greatest consideration was on security

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on the IT sector of the country to ensure that India can emerge in the coming years as a leader in the world. He also praised the solutions offered by tech experts, which he said during the Covid-19 crisis served as an inspiration to the world.

He then discussed the numerous steps taken by the government to liberalise different industries, the mapping sector being the most recent. On Monday, the government liberalised geospatial data regulations and maps to achieve a $5 trillion economy and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, or self-reliant India. Whether it's infrastructure projects or houses for the needy, the Prime Minister said, everything is being geo-tagged so that projects can be completed on time.
