Chemistry has triumphed over poll arithmetic, Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi said on Monday, 27 May, profusely thanking Varanasi voters for electing him by a huge margin in the Lok Sabha elections.

Modi Credits Grassroot Workers For His Victory

"Work and workers create wonders," Modi said, giving full credit for his victory to the workers at the grassroots level for creating awareness about his government's policies and programmes for the people.

Uttar Pradesh is showing the way for India, he said. He also spoke of importance of "perfect synergy" between the government and the party. The prime minister-designate said he was also grateful to his opponents who fought against him.

BJP's Vote Share Increasing, No Longer Hindi Heartland Party: Modi

Criticising those who termed the BJP as a “Hindi heartland” party, Narendra Modi said that his party’s seat-share was increasing in various states including Tamil Nadu.

“Some don’t understand Hindi in the Northeast. But we are running governments there,” he said.

BJP Subjected to Hate, But Holds Inclusiveness: Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi said that despite being subjected to hate from Kerala to Kashmir, and Bengal and Tripura the BJP’s mantra remains, 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'.

He added that political untouchability was increasing by the day and that it was shameful and anti-democratic.

He added that the BJP remains the only democratic party in the country.

Was the Most Confident Candidate, Thanks to Varanasi: Modi

Thanking the BJP karyakartas, Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi said there was no candidate as confident as h was during the elections.

“Rarely is a candidate so relaxed and confident, as I was, during elections. Your hard work was the reason for it. I was relaxed so I went to Kedarnath,” said Modi.

He said that while he is the prime minister, he is also "a worker" when it comes to the people.

He also added that the BJP’s wins in Uttar Pradesh should be studied “very carefully by political analysts”.

Taking a dig at the grand alliance in the state, Modi said that “chemistry beat arithmetic in the polls.” He also said that "work and workers create wonders".

BJP President Amit Shah addressed party workers in Varanasi, thanking them for handling Narendra Modi’s campaign.

He added that the people of Varanasi are lucky to be represented by Modi and that Varanasi has seen unprecedented ‘vikas’ in the last five years.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed prime minister-designate Narendra Modi to Varanasi with the slogan, 'Modi hain to mumkin hain'.

“The BJP broke all the records under the leadership of PM Modi and emerged victorious in Lok Sabha elections. This is the first time India hasseen such development after the freedom struggle,” said Adityanath.

He also lauded party BJP President Amit Shah for formulating the road map to success and thanked the party workers who "worked day and night to ensure victory".

After reaching Varanasi, Modi will travel by road from the police lines to Bansphatak, with his cavalcade passing through various parts of the city.

He will pay obeisance at the Kashi Vishwanath temple and later address a gathering of workers of his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), party sources said.

District Magistrate Surendra Singh said heavy security has been put in place for the PM's visit.

This will be Modi's first visit to his constituency after he won the Lok Sabha elections by a huge margin of 4.79 lakh votes.

In a video message ahead of the 19 May polling, Modi had called himself a "Kashivasi" and termed the city his guiding spirit.
