Plea in Supreme Court against fee hike in Maharashtra; challenges Bombay HC decision

Mumbai: A Plea has been filed in Supreme Court against fee hike in Maharashtra. Supreme Court on Tuesday did not interfere with an interim order of Bombay high court that had stayed, Maharashtra Government Resolution (GR) against fee hike by schools for academic year 2020-21. The state had moved the SC against the High Court order claiming powers under Disaster Management Act to issue the GR during the pandemic. The SC bench of Justices Ajay Khanvilkar and Sanjiv Khanna, however, disposing the state’s petition, gave it liberty to raise the same arguments and apply for getting the stay vacated before the HC itself.
