Piravam election: Anoop Jacob (UDF) wins by 12071 votes

In the Piravam bye elections in Kerala, the UDF candidate Mr. Anoop Jacob had a thumping victory by a margin of 12071 votes. Anoop is the son of the late minister Mr. TM Jacob whose death lead to the bye election, and has been projected by the front as a prospective minister.

The whole state had been eagerly watching the results as the polling rate was as high as 86.3%, the highest ever in the constituency. In the assembly elections of 2011 Mr. TM Jacob had won over MJ Jacob by a narrow margin of 157 votes. This also added to the anxiety and eagerness of the political fronts and the public.
