BJP MLAs demand resignation of Karnataka minister H Anjaneya

Locals thronged the historic Baliyatra festival, which celebrates the maritime legacy of Odisha on the shores of Mahanadi River in Cuttack. The week-long festivities began on Karthik Purnima or full moon day of Karthik month of the Hindu calendar. As a part of the festivities, local businessmen buy things from the stalls put up at the fair and travel to Bali in Indonesia where they sell these things in exchange for precious items like gold. These men are believed to return with their boats filled with gold, diamonds etc. The Cuttack Collector and organiser of the festival, Nirmal Chandra Mishra, said that Baliyatra had immense historical significance. The festival is likely to witness a footfall of around 1.5 million. Over 1,000 makeshift stalls have been put up and will offer the visitors a wide variety of products to buy from. Also on sale at some of the stalls are products made by artisans from across the country. Mishra added that all necessary arrangements for sanitation and security were put in place at the festival venue.
