2013 Year In Review -- Hollywood Moments
Walt Disney Studio turns 90
On October 16, 1923, two brothers Walt and Roy Disney started a Walt Disney Cartoon Studio, which was later renamed Walt Disney Studio. The first series that rolled out from Walt Disney was Alice Comedies – then came Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in 1927. Soon, Disney lost the contract and Oswald. He then created Mortimer Mouse. Walt Disney’s wife convinced him that Mickey will have a far greater appeal than Mortimer and how true it turned out to be. Mickey was followed by Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and a lot of other animated characters who have been every child’s best friend while growing up.  The Studio has had its ups and downs – and hits and flops. There were flops, but now things are looking up. The latest flick ‘Frozen’ is slowly edging out all competition. Making us want to believe in Walt Disney and his oft quoted statement ‘I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse.’
