Pegasus Project: Congress should join hands with GoI in criticising Amnesty International, says Assam CM

Guwahati (Assam), July 20 (ANI): On 'Pegasus Project' media report, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 20 suggested that the Congress should join hands with Government of India in criticising Amnesty International. “They (some media outlets) said these (persons) are potential targets but cannot confirm if their privacy was compromised. What kind of journalism is this? Amnesty International and certain other int'l groups are hell-bent to defame India's democracy and leadership. I request Government of India to ban the functioning of Amnesty International in the country... I feel the Congress party should join hands with Government in criticising Amnesty International. They can't defame our country like this all the time,” said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Some media reports have claimed that cellphones of around 40 Indian journalists were tapped by using Israeli spyware 'Pegasus' by an unknown agency.
