Passenger on Delhi-Patna GoAir Flight Sparks Panic Mid-Air as He Attempts to Open Airplane Door

Patna, Sept 23: Crew and passengers on the Delhi-Patna GoAir flight were left in a state of panic after one of the commuters attempted to open the airplane's rear door. A major tragedy was averted as the onboard security personnel overpowered him and kept him under watch till the aircraft landed at Patna airport.

The incident was reported on Sunday, in the GoAir flight numbered G8 149. The passenger, identified as a resident of Rajasthan's Ajmer in his mid-20s, was handed over the Central Industrial Security Force after the flight landed. Station House Office Mohammad Sanowar Khan, after interrogating the passenger, concluded that the fiasco on the flight was a case of confusion. Speaking to reports, the SHO said the passenger wanted to urgently visit the washroom. Since he was a first-time flier, he mistook the rear door as the washroom door, Khan told the reporters.

The police has verified the passenger's claim and found that he had boarded a plane for the first time in his life. "Being a first-time flier, he was confused and unintentionally attempted to open the exit door," the SHO said, adding that the police has released him on a personal bond.
