A picture of Pakistani pop star Rabi Pirzada, which she posted on her Twitter account, has gone viral, albeit for striking a discordant note. The photograph shows Pirzada wearing a ‘suicide vest’ and apparently threatening Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to blow him up in a suicide attack.
In her post, she refers to Modi as ‘Hitler’ and dubs herself ‘Kashmir ki Beti’. The obvious allusion is that she wants to kill PM Modi for abrogating Article 370, which accorded special privileges to the state of Jammu & Kashmir, and for imposing a lockdown in the Valley. Stripping J&K of its special status has led to a further deterioration of relations between India and Pakistan.
Pirzada is known for her oddball behaviour: a couple of months ago, she had posted a video on the micro-blogging site in which she was seen playing with snakes and a crocodile. The singer had then claimed that these were special gifts for Modi.
Whether the suicide vest she’s wearing in the recent is real or fake could not be verified, but her rant about blowing up a leader of another country is certainly condemnable.
After the outrage, she deleted the tweet.
