Mumbai, July 13 (ANI): Special public prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikam on Monday said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government is being 'misdirected' by the Pakistan Government over 26/11 mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
"Although Pakistan's Prime Minister had made commitments to our Prime Minister of providing us with the voice samples, yet the Pakistan Prosecutor Chaudhry saying that they will not give Lakhvi's voice sample shows that the Pakistan Government is still trying to misdirect us," Nikam told ANI here.
Nikam further said that the voice samples of Lakhvi could be obtained under the new law that was passed in Pakistan in 2013.
"In 2011, the demand for voice sample was denied because the Pakistan court had said that there is no provison in their law.But a new law was passed in 2013, and under that law, the voice samples can be obtained. Where lies the problem then? The issue is that they don't want to give Lakhvi's voice sample," he added.
Pakistan prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar has said that Pakistan Government will not file a fresh petition in an anti-terrorism court requesting for obtaining voice sample of Lakhvi in the Mumbai terror attack case.
His remarks comes just two days after Prime Minister Modi met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in a meeting in Ufa, Russia and agreed to discuss ways and means to expedite the Mumbai case trial (in Pakistan), including additional information like providing voice samples. (ANI)
