Oxygen Shortage; Maharashtra government reaches out to the centre

Maharashtra government has asked the centre now to raise the oxygen quota for the state by about 200 metric tonnes. While Mumbai and other cities where the second covid wave was at its peak at the beginning of April is now seeing a downslide, but there are other districts in the state where the cases are still rising. However, the comparison is now made with Delhi which has demanded significantly higher rates of oxygen despite a lower number of cases earlier. The cases are rising in the far-flung areas of Maharashtra where there are no oxygen production units perhaps this is one of the main reasons why this demand by the state government has been raised.
