Shortly after assuming charge as the Union Minister of State for Home, G Kishan Reddy, MP from Secunderabad, made a controversial statement that Hyderabad was a “safe zone for terrorists.” Reacting to this, Hyderabad MP and chief of AIMIM Asaduddin Owaisi said that there was no proof of it and this statement reflects the hatred for Telangana and Hyderabad.
Slamming Reddy, he said, “An MoS speaking like this! This shows their hatred for Telangana, Hyderabad. Such irresponsible statements don't suit a minister, but we expect this from him. Wherever they see Muslims, they take them for terrorists. We can't cure them.”
The Hyderabad MP further said that there were no communal incidents in the past five years in Hyderabad and peace prevailed. “It is a growing city and he is speaking like that. What enmity do they have with Telangana, Hyderabad? Do they not like that it is growing?”
News agency ANI quoted Owaisi as saying, “I'd like to ask him that in last 5 years, how many times have NIA, IB & RAW gave in writing that Hyderabad is a safe zone for terror? (sic) It is unfortunate the he is saying such things.”
Earlier, speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Reddy had said that Hyderabad had become a safe haven for terrorists. “Wherever in the county a terrorist incident happens, its roots are in Hyderabad.”
He further threatened action against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar staying in Old City, Hyderabad. Old City is largely a Muslim populated area in Hyderabad.
“India is not a dharma satram (free place to stay) for everyone; we will conduct a census to find out who are Indians and who are intruders in the country,” he had said.
