The warring O Panneerselvam and E Palaniswami camps within the AIADMK are ready with a truce plan which will seal the merger of the two factions of the party that currently governs Tamil Nadu.
According to the truce plan, jailed party chief VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dinakaran will be "completely sidelined" by the EPS camp. They will be asked to officially resign from their posts.
Moreover, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will become Number Two in the Tamil Nadu Cabinet. The party will also be now headed by OPS.
The AIADMK will soon call a meeting of its MLAs over the developments, which ends the four-month long turbulence in the party following the death of J Jayalalithaa in December last year.
Jayalalithaa died on December 5 after a prolonged illness, leading to developments that broke up the AIADMK into two factions. After Sasikala took charge of the AIADMK, she forced the exit of Chief Minister Panneerselvam, who finally revolted against her.
Although the ruling AIADMK faction has more supporters in the Tamil Nadu assembly, it is in deep trouble after Delhi Police filed a case against Dinakaran on charges of trying to bribe voters in Chennai.
