OPS Camp Under Fire For Campaigning With Jaya’s Dummy Corpse

Members of the Sasikala camp approached the Election Commission seeking a ban on E Madhusudhanan’s candidature for the RK Nagar by-poll for campaigning with a dummy corpse of late Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalitha in Chennai on Thursday.

In a desperate attempt to claim Amma’s legacy, the AIADMK faction led by O Panneerselvam had taken out a procession with a dummy corpse of the former Chief Minister in RK Nagar.

Members of the OPS camp claim that their act was meant to highlight the mystery around Jayalalithaa’s death.

A by-poll is being held for the RK Nagar seat that fell vacant following Amma’s demise.

Hitting out at OPS, the AIADMK faction led by Sasikala also asked for his and M Pandiarajan’s immediate arrest for “bringing disrespect” to Amma.

In March, the Election Commission had denied the AIADMK’s original ‘two leaves’ symbol to either factions. Instead, the OPS camp was allotted the ‘electric pole’.
