Bhubaneswar, Oct 10 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 toll crossed the 1,000-mark on Saturday with 15 more deaths, while 2,854 new cases were reported, a Health Department official said.
The toll rose to 1,006 with the latest fatalities, which included five persons from the Khurda district and two from Cuttack.
One patient each died in Balasore, Bolangir, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh, the official said.
Of the new cases, 1,659 have been reported from different quarantine centres while the remaining 1,195 people tested positive during contact tracing, he said.
Khurda district, of which Bhubaneswar is a part, reported the highest 393 new cases, followed by Cuttack (244) and Sundergarh (143).
The state has so far reported 2,49,693 cases of COVID-19.
There are 28,246 active cases in the state at present while 2,20,388 patients have recovered till date.
Odisha has so far tested 37.10 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 45,914 on Friday. PTI AAM SOM SOM
