Odisha's COVID-19 tally mounts to 3,35,889, over 3.4 lakh inoculated

Bhubaneswar, Feb 10 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 tally climbed to 3,35,889 on Wednesday after 92 more people tested positive for the virus, a health department official said.

The coastal state's coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 1,910 as no fresh fatality was reported since Tuesday, he said.

Odisha now has 787 active cases, while 3,33,139 patients have recovered from the disease, the official said.

Fifty-four of the new cases were reported from different quarantine centres, while the remaining are local- contact infections.

Bargarh district reported the highest of 14 fresh cases followed by Sundergarh (11) and Cuttack (9). Nine other districts - Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Nayagarh and Nabarangpur, did not register any new infection.

Malkangiri and Nayagarh have been identified as coronavirus-free districts, he said.

Of the 1,910 deaths, 336 have been reported from Khurda district followed by Ganjam (248), Sundergarh (173), Cuttack (142) and Puri (117).

A total of 53 other COVID-19 patients have died due to comorbidities.

The state has thus far conducted over 79.30 lakh sample tests, including 25,390 on Tuesday.

Official sources said a total of 342,254 health care and frontline workers have been administered COVID-19 vaccine shots across the state. PTI AAM SBN RBT RBT
