Bhubaneswar, Feb 17 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 caseload on Wednesday surged to 3,36,397 after 75 more people tested positive for the virus, a health department official said.
The 75 new cases were detected in 17 of the state's 30 districts, with 46 cases reported from different quarantine centres, while the remaining 29 are local contact cases.
Sundergarh district reported the highest of 11 new cases followed by nine each in Bargarh and Sambalpur districts. Thirteen other districts did not register any new cases since Tuesday.
The state's coronavirus death toll remained at 1,912 as no new fatality has been reported since Tuesday, he said.
Apart from 1,912 fatalities reported so far in the state, 53 other COVID-19 patients have also died due to comorbidities, he said.
Khurda district alone accounted for 336 deaths followed by Ganjam (248), Sundergarh (173), Cuttack (142) and Puri (117). Twenty-five other districts reported fatalities below 100.
Currently, the state has 732 active COVID-19 cases, while as many as 3,33,700 patients have recovered from the highly infectious disease.
The state has so far conducted over 80.81 lakh sample tests for COVID-19 including 20,229 on Tuesday. Odisha's positivity rate stands at 4.16 per cent, the data released by the Health and Family Welfare department said.
The state has inoculated 4,92,695 health care workers and frontline workers till Tuesday, he said. PTI AAM RG RG
