Odisha reports 65 new COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 3,38,121

(Eds: Adds details) Bhubaneswar, Mar 13 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 caseload mounted to 3,38,121 on Saturday as 65 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said.

The state during the day registered recovery of 70 more patients taking the number of cured persons to 3,35,569, which is 99.24 per cent of the caseload.

Odisha's case fatality ratio (CFR) stands at 0.56 per cent while the state's positivity rate is 3.93 per cent, he said.

Of the new cases, 38 were reported from quarantine centres and 27 detected during contact tracing.

Cuttack and Sundargarh districts recorded 13 new cases each, followed by Mayurbhanj (7).

The COVID-19 death toll remained at 1,918 as no new fatality was reported due to the infection in the last 24 hours.

Fifty-three other COVID-19 patients have also died due to comorbidities, the official said.

Odisha now has 581 active COVID-19 cases, which is 0.17 per cent of the caseload.

The state has so far conducted over 85.98 lakh sample tests for COVID-19, including 18,523 on Friday.

Official sources said 3,48,309 people aged 60 years and above have been inoculated till Saturday evening.

About 84 per cent of health professionals and 98 per cent of frontline workers in the state have already received the second dose of vaccine, they added. PTI AAM RG RG
