Odisha reports 315 new COVID-19 cases, 2 fresh fatalities

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 3,29,621 on Thursday as 315 more people tested positive for the infection, while two fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 1,873, a health official said.

As many as 181 new cases were reported in quarantine centres and 134 infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.

Cuttack reported the highest number of new cases at 41, followed by Bolangir (40), the official said.

The fresh fatalities were reported in Khurda and Puri districts, he said.

Fifty-three coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities so far, the official said.

The state now has 2,592 active cases, while 3,25,103 people have recovered so far, he said.

Odisha has so far tested over 69.46 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 31,527 on Wednesday, the official said.
