(Eds: Adds details) Bhubaneswar, Sep 12 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 tally mounted to 1,46,894 on Saturday with 3,777 more people, including a BJD MLA, testing positive for the disease, while 11 fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 616, a health official said.
Three deaths were reported in Cuttack, two in Khurda, and one each in Bolangir, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Nayagarh and Rayagada districts, he said.
Of the 3,777 new cases, 2,191 were registered in various quarantine centres, and 1,586 were detected during contact tracing.
Kendrapara MLA Sashubhusan Behera said he has tested positive for COVID-19 and advised those who had recently come in contact with him to undergo coronavirus test.
Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar falls, registered the highest number of fresh cases at 815, followed by Cuttack at 368.
As many as 3,217 more people were cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,15,279.
The recovery rate among the COVID-19 patients in the state now stands at 78.47 per cent.
Odisha's Case Fatality Rate (CFR) now stands at 0.42 per cent, one of the lowest in the country, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, P K Mohapatra said.
Odisha now has 30,946 active coronavirus cases.
Fifty-three COVID-19 patients have died in the coastal state due to comorbidities, the official said.
As many as 23.74 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 50,979 on Friday, he added. PTI AAM RMS ACD ACD
