(Eds: Adds details) Bhubaneswar, Sep 2 (PTI) Odisha on Wednesday reported 3,219 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 1,09,780, a health official said.
The death toll rose to 514 with 11 fresh fatalities, he said.
As many as 3,303 more people were cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 84,073, the official said.
The recovery rate among the COVID-19 patients in the state has improved to 76.58 per cent, he said.
The state's fatality rate also declined to 0.46 per cent despite 11 more patients succumbing to the infection, the official said.
Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar falls, has reported the highest number of fresh infections at 731, followed by Cuttack (400), Puri (217) and Balasore (194), he said.
Three fresh fatalities were reported in Ganjam, two in Khurda and one each in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Rayagada and Sambalpur districts, the official said.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 25,140, he said.
The state has so far tested over 18.19 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 51,245 on Tuesday, the official said.
Khurda, which has reported 18,159 COVID-19 cases so far and has been adding more than 500 fresh infections daily since the last three days, is set to surpass Ganjam's tally of 18,238 cases to become the worst-affected district.
Bhubaneswar now has 4,282 active COVID-19 cases, the highest in the state, followed by 2,855 in Cuttack district.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik called up several infected legislators and the government's media advisor Manas Mangaraj and wished them speedy recovery.
The Tourism Department has allowed opening of restaurants and bars across the state which had remained closed for above five-and-half months due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a notification said. PTI AAM ACD ACD
