(Eds: With fresh inputs) Bhubaneswar, Sep 29 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,15,676 on Tuesday as 3,067 more people tested positive for the infection, while 15 fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 828, a health official said.
The state also registered the recovery of 3,896 patients taking the total number of people cured of the infection to 1,81,481, which is 84.14 per cent of the caseload.
Of the new cases, 1,809 were detected in quarantine centres, while 1,258 people tested positive for the virus during contact tracing, the official said.
Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar falls, reported the highest number of new cases at 555, followed by Cuttack (230) and Puri (178).
Of the 15 fresh fatalities, three each were reported from Balasore, Cuttack and Khurda, two in Puri and one each in Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur and Sundergarh districts, the official said.
Fifty-three COVID-19 patients have died due to other ailments so far, he said.
Odisha now has 33,314 active coronavirus cases.
The state has so far tested over 32 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 41,452 on Monday, he added.
Meanwhile, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) barred COVID-19 infected servitors and employees from entering the 12th Century shrine in Puri, as there has been report that several of them roam on the temple premises without completing their mandatory 17-day quarantine period.
As many as 351 servitors and 53 employees of the temple have been infected with the virus since August, an SJTA official said.
Puri District Magistrate-cum-Collector Balwant Singh said all arrangements are being made for the treatment of servitors. PTI AAM NN NN
