Odisha reports 1,018 new COVID-19 cases, 12 more fatalities

(Eds: Adding more inputs) Bhubaneswar, Nov 13 (PTI) At least 1,018 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha, raising the tally to 3,07,004 on Friday, while 12 fresh fatalities pushed the toll to 1,495, a health department official said.

Of the 1,018 new cases, 585 were reported from various quarantine centres and the rest detected during contact tracing. All 30 districts in the coastal state have recorded less than 100 cases.

According to the official, 1,504 patients were cured of the disease during the day, taking the number of recoveries to 2,95,245, which is 96.16 per cent of Odisha's caseload.

Sundergarh reported the maximum number of new cases at 94, followed by Mayurbhanj at 86 and Khurda at 83.

Taking to Twitter, the Health and Family Welfare department said, 'Regret to inform the demise of twelve #COVID19 positive patients while under treatment in hospitals.' Three deaths were reported from Sundergarh, two each from Khurda and Dhenkanal districts. One each succumbed to the infection in Angul, Kandhamal, Koraput, Puri and Sambalpur.

Odisha currently has 10,211 active cases, which accounted for 3.32 per cent of the state's total caseload.

The state's positivity rate now stands at 5.94 per cent, the official said.

Fifty-three COVID-19 patients have died due to comorbidities, he said.

Over 51.71 lakh tests have been conducted in the state, including 48,246 on Thursday, he added. PTI AAM BDC BDC
