Bhubaneswar, Apr 18 (PTI) Odisha's COVID-19 caseload mounted to 3,68,258 on Sunday after 3,664 more people tested positive for the infection, while two fresh fatalities pushed the coastal state's toll to 1,944, a senior health department official here said.
Of the 3,664 new cases, 2,127 were registered in quarantine centres and the rest detected during contact tracing, the official said.
At least 10 districts recorded more than 100 new cases each, he stated.
Khurda district -- of which the state capital Bhubaneswar is a part -- reported the highest number of fresh cases at 704, followed by Sundargarh at 340, Kalahandi at 324, Nuapada at 221, Bargarh at 210, Sambalpur at 199, Cuttack at 198, Jharsuguda at 183, Puri at 143 and Mayurbhanj at 119.
Malkangiri district recorded the least number of new cases at four.
Taking to twitter, the Health and Family Welfare Department said, 'Regret to inform about the demise of two Covid positive patients while under treatment in hospitals.' Both the victims are women - one from Bargarh district, aged 75 years, and the other from Sundergarh, aged 32 years, the health department official said.
Odisha currently has 21,436 active cases, while as many as 3,44,825 patients have so far recovered from the highly infectious disease. Fifty-three other COVID-19 patients have died due to comorbidities.
The positivity rate stands at 3.84 per cent.
Over 95.99 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 thus far, including 34,450 on Saturday. PTI AAM RMS RMS
