Over 60,000 people have so far been evacuated to cyclone shelters by the Odisha government. More than 7,000 cyclone shelters, including 860 permanent shelters, have been identified by the district administration. The chief minister has sent MOS home VS Mishra to the Balasore district, where the landfall is expected on May 26th. In the wake of the potential impacts of the cyclone, people from low lying areas are being evacuated on priority, and 52 NDRF teams have already reached Odisha. The government of Odisha is trying to take all measures to minimise damage from the impact of the cyclone. The CM is reviewing cyclone preparations.
