A non-bailable warrant has been issued by a local Mumbai court against actor Sanjay Dutt in the Shakil Noorani criminal intimidation case for non-appearance before it.
The next hearing is on August 29.
The case goes back to 2002 when a complaint filed by the film producer Noorani alleged that the actor had failed to complete his movie ‘Jaan Ki Baazi’, despite pocketing the Rs 50 lakh signing amount.
Noorani was then allegedly threatened by the mafia at Dutt’s behest. A warrant was issued against the actor in 2013 for which he had secured bail from a Mumbai court.
In April 2002, Noorani alleged that Dutt had promised a film with him but at the last minute cancelled doing it. He also claimed to have received death threats from underworld goons on behalf of the actor.
Sanjay has skipped two court cases in this matter earlier.
Now as compensation, Noorani wants Dutt to repay him Rs. 50 lakh signing amount and Rs 2 crore for the loss.
