Noida: Uber Cab Stolen at Gunpoint; Noida Police Clueless

Uber provides taxi service round the clock and this incident is a rare case of auto theft involving cabs which are reportedly monitored.

Noida, Nov 23: An Uber cab was stolen at gunpoint in Noida Sector 27 on Wednesday night. According to the driver, the auto theft was accomplished by three miscreants who hailed the taxi to pick them up from Sector 27 and soon attacked the driver to steal the vehicle.

According to reports, the trio availed the cab using the online cab service on Wednesday and soon after they occupied the vehicle, one of them, sitting in the front seat pulled out a country-made pistol. They reportedly threatened the driver and made him stop the car.

Anil Kumar Shahi, SHO, Sector 20 said that the assailants then threw the driver out of the cab and sped away. The official said an FIR has been registered as per the driver, Tribhuvan’s account of the story.

However, there have been no arrests as of now and the police are making efforts to nab the assailants.

It is unknown if the vehicle was traced using the GPS on it.

Uber provides taxi service round the clock and Wednesday’s incident is a rare case of auto theft involving such cabs which are reportedly monitored. Uber has not commented on the issue.
