After India lost the World Cup semi-finals to New Zealand on Wednesday, 10 July, a photograph of a camera person crying started doing the rounds with a claim that he cried after MS Dhoni got run out.

The Quint also received a message related to the picture on its WhatsApp helpline number.

While the photograph is real, the claim that he cried after Dhoni got run out during the World Cup semi-final is completely wrong.

On doing a reverse image search of the photograph using Yandex search engine, we found out that it was an Iraqi photographer who got emotional during the AFC Asia Cup while his team went down to Qatar 1-0 in the round of 16.

The photograph was shared on the official Facebook page of AFC Asia Cup.

We also came across an article which had identified the photographer as Mohammed al-Azzawi and on looking up his name on Twitter, we came across another photograph of Azzawi in which he can be seen wearing an Iraqi flag.

The photograph was shared by Steven Nabi, who works as a TV correspondent at Alhurra News.
