No FIR lodged in the Bhandara apathy incident; BJP alleges cover-up by State Govt

More than 48 hours have passed since the devastating fire at the Bhandara hospital claimed the lives of 10 children in the intensive care unit, but the district police have not filed a first information report (FIR) so far in the case.

Although SP Vasant Jadhav said that the investigation was underway and no FIR had yet been submitted, the delay was blasted by legal experts, calling it a miscarriage of justice that could benefit the guilty in the case.

Lawyer and activist Tushar Mandlekar said an offence for homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 of the IPC should have been registered against unidentified persons at once and then cops could have proceeded with the investigation.
