There were no deaths due to lack of oxygen as reported by states and Union Territories during the second wave Covid-19, the government has informed in the Rajyasabha today. Dr Bharti Praveen Pawar, Minister of State for Healthy and Family Welfare said that detailed guidelines for reporting of deaths have been issued by the Union Health Ministry to all the states and Union Territories. 'Accordingly, all states and UTs report cases on deaths to the Union Health Ministry on a regular basis. However, government of India has supported the states and undertook a series of actions including provisioning medical oxygen and other consumables to ensure clinical care of the Covid-19 patients in view of the steep rise of COVID-19 trajectory in the country during April- May 2021', stated the minister. The government also said that the supply of medical oxygen is determined is by contractual agreements to the hospitals and the concerned medical suppliers.
