'No bursting of crackers at public places in Mumbai,' BMC issues an fresh order

Ahead of Diwali, the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued an order regarding bursting crackers. Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ban crackers for Diwali at public places in Mumbai. Maharashtra Government is now making a complete cracker ban due to Coronavirus pandemic.

An official said that bursting firecrackers would release a lot of smoke and other pollutants which would adversely impact the health of Covid-19 patients and increase the risk of infection among the other high-risk categories like children or senior citizens.

Maharashtra currently has the highest cases and deaths due to the contagion with a maximum number of active patients in Pune, Thane, Mumbai, Nashik, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Raigad and Satara.
