Last month, Narendra Modi expressed his displeasure with bouquets. At the inauguration of the Kochi Metro, the Prime Minister appealed people to present him with “a book instead of a bouquet as a greeting.”
“Such a move can make a big difference,” ANI quoted Modi as saying.
On Monday, his wish was delivered in the form of an official restriction on presenting the Prime Minister with bouquets during his tours within India by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The MHA, according to ANI, told all the states, “At best, PM Modi can be welcomed with a flower, along with a khadi handkerchief or a book.”
“All states and union territories are requested to suitably sensitise all concerned to ensure strict compliance of the above instructions," the MHA instructed.
