Amid speculations about his whereabouts, India Today TV has learnt that diamantaire Nirav Modi has left the UK a month back using his Indian passport.
India Today TV has an exclusive access to Interpol's reply to Indian agencies dated June 5 where it says that Nirav Modi left the UK a month back and isn't in London anymore.
According to Interpol's reply, Nirav Modi used his Indian passport to travel from the UK to another country.
Interestingly, after India's biggest bank scam involving Punjab National Bank was unearthed, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a press statement had said that Nirav Modi's passport was suspended and revoked.
The senior government officials are also surprised that Nirav Modi is travelling on his Indian passport when it has already been revoked.
The Interpol's latest reply also includes Nirav Modi's travel dates and the names of countries he has been to since he went absconding.
A government official told India Today TV that Nirav Modi has travelled to at least four countries including Hong Kong and the UK.
The agencies have also been informed that while Nirav Modi was in London, he stayed at The May Fair Hotel.
Indian agencies have already begun the process of seeking a Red Corner Notice. The agencies have also asked Interpol to share the details of Nirav Modi's current address so that an extradition process can be initiated.
Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are accused of defrauding PNB to the tune of over Rs 14,000 crore.
