Next-gen Hyundai Xcent spied testing, India launch expected in 2020
Hyundai is testing the second-generation Xcent in Europe and now the spy-shots of the new compact sedan have emerged online. Hyundai Xcent competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor and Ford Aspire.
The next-generation Xcent will come with an all-new front fascia, the picture posted by Autocar revealed. Instead of the multiple slat chrome grille, the second-gen variant gets a new form of the company's cascading grille with a honeycomb design. The headlamps and fog lamps have been refurbished. At the rear, we can expect LED taillamps.
The 2020 Hyundai Xcent will feature a spacious cabin with premium upholstery. Presently, the compact sedan comes with a multi-function steering wheel and the new-gen will have it as well. Though we might get better quality switches. Also, the 20.32-cm touchscreen infotainment system available in the recently-launched Hyundai Venue might be provided with the new Xcent.
Under the hood, Hyundai Xcent gets a 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine that makes 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The mill is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, along with an option for 4-speed automatic transmission. The compact sedan also comes with a 1.2-litre U2 CRDi diesel motor that produces 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. This powertrain is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 2020 Xcent will come with BSVI compliant (BS6) engines.
Presently, Hyundai Xcent is priced between Rs 5.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 8.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The second-gen might see its prices going northwards.
